    Hybrid & electric cars

It's inevitable that charges will apply to every type of vehicle, I've not paid any road tax since 2007 as I have had 2 Hybrids and just beat the as yet unannounced 2017 deadline when I bought a new Gen 4 Prius in 2016

Did You Have a Paper Round ?

I had a paper round in Weoley Castle in the 1950's, it lasted one or 2 days. My friend had a paper round where all the papers had the road number written in the corner, so for example Gregory Avenue would have GA23 scribbled on. So I go to a different newsagent and what do I get? a big...

    Princethorpe Road School Weoley Castle

I moved to Oxley grove around 1954 aged 8, I went to Princethorpe and was happy there but Ilmington was dreadful. While at Princethorpe I and several more kids caught food poisoning and I lost 8 weeks off school, it was traced to contaminated dolly mixtures from Fawkes shop

    IN OUR GARDEN 2024

The huge flower of Amorphophallus Konjac, a relative of the giant Titan Arum that rarely flowers at Kew. I have grown this from a tiny tuber which has now grown to 6" across, I dig it up in the Autumn before the first frosts and overwinter the tuber in our veranda

Erdington Picture House Erdington Roller Skating Rink

Erdington Picture House Erdington Roller Skating Rink

I remember working on Erdington High street in 1966, we were refitting a butchers shop, probably a Dewhurst and 2 of us crept out and went down to the cinema in our overalls and watched a film called Modesty Blaise :joy:

    Our childhood toys

In the 1950's I had the Escalado game where you clamped a ratchet thing to one end of the table and pulled a canvas race track out and clamped the end of it. It worked by turning a handle which vibrated the track and made the horses move along. I think the horses were made of lead but later...

    Victoria Square

Hard to tell the date, note there are no Horses visible either but the vehicles look early. The omnibus must be really early though, 1915?, the driver cab is open to the weather and presumably originally a bus with no roof either but since has had one added. I wonder if you could even stand up...
