Strange to call a pub the Anchor so far from the sea but the B,ham assay marks on silver etc is an Anchor, apparently the result of tossing a coin with Sheffield according to Googling it

I feel sure these boat Horses had a far better life than those hauling coal and other supplies round the smoke polluted city streets. After the first hard pull the boats would follow with little effort, and of course no hills to climb other than a slight upgrade at a lock

Here is the photo made brighter, looks like an abandoned area awaiting demolition, rubbish in the gutters everywhere, looks like a corner shop with 2 people down the end. Typical Victorian era with lots of small paned windows for workshops, entrance must be round the corner

Pleione Formosana Orchids, these are very hardy indeed and the ones on my rockery will flower a bit later than these in a pot, tthey produce bulbils which soon grow into flowering size

It was another world Lyn, demolition was going on everywhere in Brum and they are still at it now wanting to pull down the indoor and rag markets. The Victorian building in Bow street I worked from for 18 years is still there today :worried:
