    I cannot be certain about these dates, as I also seem to think they stayed on after retirement age!! So as you said it could be later.

    I also thought having that background would be a bonus to you. Yes, it was at his retirement, and I would be incorrect about the date. If my father retired at 65, then it would place it about 1970-1973!

    My father was a Works Policeman at Chance Brothers. My brother was also there, but I am unsure to his job!

    Hi Wendy, I played there in bands, and it is near Kenilworth. Many top bands played in the ballroom , and also in the cellar type bar underneath.

    I seem to remember Yate's being on the right hand side, of Stephenson Street off New Street, that runs down to the entrance of New Street Station, opposite the ramp that went up to the shopping centre
