    Ha ha,yes !..The daft thing is,back in the 50's I used to frequent the "Gondola" milk bar,which was in that block and also,I used to buy records from another shop in that block !..Seems like I've had a major "Senior Moment" here.lol...

    My paternal Grandparents lived at 298 Cherrywood R'd,about 3 doors down from the Colmore Depot entrance..It was a cycle repair shop when I was nipper in the late 40's !..I wonder if anyone remembers it ?...Here's an aerial view from 1930,courtesy of "Britain From Above"

    Yes,some of it was good fun,especially dismantling different types of weapons,cleaning them and then trying to put them back together again !..We did get to shoot at the local Army firing range on Alum Rock Road and a couple of times at Whittington Barracks....I don't recall anything similar for...

    The Phoenix was on the same side as the Royal George,no more than 75 yards away,about half way along, before you get to the railway bridge.
