Re: Who were William Baldwins parents. Good evening annecrofts, wishing you a merry christmas and a happy, prosperous and safe New Year from a dark windy night here in Kentlyn Australia. Thank you very much indeed for your reply to my posting on William Baldwin. William Baldwin (b 1908)...

    Numbering of Courts, Houses

Now then folks, I thought all you people in England were sensible enough to at least get the house numbering correct, you surprise me. Here in the rural outskirts of Sydney we are somewhat prone to number our houses according to a lunar cycle, tarot card readings or possibly visions in a crystal...

    Numbering of Courts, Houses

I guess it's pretty obvious that houses given even numbers are on one side of the street and those with odd numbers are on the opposite side. But, when looking at a map, how can you tell which side has the odd numbers and which the even numbers ?, is there a common convention such as even...

    Bull.

Re: A story of Bull. Hi there Mikejee, every now and then a chance comment or remark helps to make that elusive breakthrough that we all crave. I had hit a brick wall with one particular ancestor and I spent countless hours researching a distant relative, with absolutely no success. And then...

    Bull.

Can anyone with a magic wand please assist. I am looking for a family that included Beatrice(?) Bull, whose address was, I think, 4 back of 13, Lawford Street, Vauxhall Road. I know that there are two streets/roads in the address but that's how the information was presented. Those two...

Re: Who were William Baldwins parents. Thank you very much Shera, I knew that William and Rose lived in Oldknow Road a few doors away from his parents but I didn't know there were other Baldwins all within the same little enclave. Thanks again for your assistance. Regards, Snowball.

    Finding divorce decree/record

Can anyone please advise me on how to obtain details of divorce proceedings. I know the names of the parties concerned but I would like to know the dates that applied. This divorce is comparatively recent, best guess about 1965. Any advice ?

    Baldwins William Who were parents.

Looking for help in identifying the parents of my uncle, William Henry Baldwin. Born July 1908, siblings were Violet, Len and Doris. Family lived in Oldknow Road, Small Heath, Birmingham just before WW2. Would like to identify the names of his parents and the address in Oldknow Road.

    Is somebody telling fibs ?

Thanks for that Ann, I sort of suspected that might be the case. I assume that the authorities turned a blind eye to this practice since it seems to be victimless. The certificate is signed by the Vicar of that Church and he would have to be a bit thick not to realise these people had "borrowed"...

    Is somebody telling fibs ?

My grandparents were John Henry Bradnock and Julia Marklew. They were married on 6th August 1905. Family folklore said it was at the Holy Trinity Church on Moseley Road. The GRO marriage certificate which I now have said that it was at the Holy Trinity Church, Bordesley, was this the same church...

    smith Garrison street

Re: re-smith Garrison street BINGO ....... John Smith was Thomas Smith's older brother. The wording on some previous posts had me a bit confused but I'm sure now that this is the connection. Since we are 9 hours ahead of you here in Australia I'll sign off for now and hope that you can...

    smith Garrison street

Re: re-smith Garrison street Hi there Smithy, Have just read some of your other posts and realise that my previous assumptions were wrong. The name Thomas Smith has got me a bit baffled, he can't be the son of Frank Smith since you say that Thomas is the only son of his father. That might...

    Airships over Birmingham ?

Hi there lesg128, I was flattered that you thought the memories I refered to were from my "grannie", however I should point out that the lady in question is my mother, not grandmother. My mother is currently packing her bags and will be on the next Zepplinn to England. She feels seriously...

    Airships over Birmingham ?

Hi Dave89, Sorry but my Mother wouldn't have known the difference between a Zepplinn and Boeing 747 and probably cares even less. Considering the fact that I'm in her bad books, for suggesting she might have been mistaken, as things stand right now if she were to claim it was a flying saucer I...

    Airships over Birmingham ?

Hi folks, my Mother is 90 years of age and still going strong. She has commented that when she was a little girl she attended school at Tilton Road Girls School after she finished her primary education at Garrison Lane Primary School. Beavon Clara abt 1870 - ?

Looking for any assistance available to trace the above lady. Clara Beavon gave birth to her son George on 7th May 1984 in Aston. From 1894 and working backwards I think she was the same Clara Beavon that was born in 1870, the fouth child of Edward and Elizabeth Beavon of Railway Terrace in...
