    previous to 1837 pat, there were just parish records of the marriage at the church involved, so if you can find sarah dobbins maiden name you may still be able to find a parish record of the marriage using familysearch.org . all the best, shera

    hi pat, i cant see anything for the previous marriage, it may have been before marriage certs began in 1837. i suggest you buy the marriage certificate of james alexander, and it should say sarahs maiden name as i would think dobbin was her married name. all the best, shera

    hi margaret, i cant see a burial for joseph, but checking on the 1841 there is this one living cheapside, st. martins parish of bham jos brough 25 born in county. i think it is with the whitehouse family but transcribed as white lout! ages were rounded up so could be your joseph brough

    can you decipher this surname?

    i think you are looking at the wrong bit jean. some other people on the same page are hemsley. have a look at post 1 for the name that needs transcribing :)

    can you give the details of marriage then, ie names ,age and address on cert if given. fathers name and occupation perhaps we may find him on a previous census. sorry if youve already tried this way, just trying to find a way round it
