    Julie Walters

I understand she was brought up in Bearwood, Bishopton Road, went to Holly Lodge Girls School, only just over the border from Birmingham and as there isn't any town such as Sandwell I think we are justified to claim her as our own!

    The Bull

Just in case you want to travel to visit it is sadly not open on Sundays, very little trade, but a good place for a relatively quiet day/night on Saturdays, open all day during the week and open 'til late most evenings. Also does reasonable accomodation, booking required weekdays, quieter at...

    Why

To my eternal shame as a 'born and bred' Brummie I have only ever been in the Art Gallery and Museum a couple of times, the last time being many, many years ago. Despite the fact that I used to deliver the milk to the Water Department via the baesment of the Council House and the milk/cream etc...

All, Pollyannas, Ground Floor of Newater House, started life as the Revolution[cold war theme], owned by Don Fewtrell? Prior to that part of it was the office of Air India. Was always a strange place for a club! Rebeccas was on Severn Street, all three floors of it[A bit like three different...

Alum Rock Rd - Ward End area

Hi Les, Good selection of names there! One or two of them I recognise. The Teacher I couldn't remember was Mr. Field [Stanley O.] I remember he was very supportive on the run up to the 11 plus[which I managed to fail] and remember going to his house for tea, in Great Barr, with David...

    Snow Hill Station

Great photo PMC. Sheri, Snow Hill has been redeveloped as a VERY poor substitute of the original, with only four platforms[three operational for trains and one for the METRO a tram that is more akin to a train and struggles to climb hills which restricts its development as a proper tram! But at...

Re: Leigh Road School Hi Les, I went to Leigh Road J&I in 1953 and left in 1959 to go to Ward End Hall. I have two photo's, dated about 1953/4 and a couple from a trip to Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust, which are posted on the Friends Reunited site. I'll dig them out again and post them on here...

    Bradford Street - Chapel

Thanks all, There is as you say the Wesleyan Chapel as mentioned and the Holy Trinity Chapel at the far end of Bradford St/Camp Hill. There is also one marked on a map, posted by BillC, of a Chapel marked as "Circus Chapel" at the Bull Ring end of Bradford St. Any ideas anyone? BilboC

    Bradford Street - Chapel

Thanks PMC1947, I think I have that one on an old map of 1913, between Alcester St. and Lombard St. This one is, I am told, between Rea Street and the Bull Ring, presumably on the North side. I can't find it on the 1913 map so maybe it wasn't a Chapel even then!

    Bradford Street - Chapel

A friend of mine is researching a chapel on Bradford Street which is still there but is currently being used as a warehouse or something similar and presumably has been for some time. Does anyone out there know of the Chapel or have any information on it. All information would be most welcome.

I remember it well, used to live over the road. As you can see it was an Atkinsons house. That was 'our' bus stop into town on the 56. I can remember sitting outside for what seemed like hours with a bottle of lemonade and a bag of crisps, you know, the ones with the little blue wrap[later...
