    Loxton Street School

I went to Loxton St school when I was 5yrs old in 1932. I remember there was a large assembly hall and class room doors around it. After I had been there a couple of years I had moved up to another class. One day we had to go into the assembly hall and sit crossed legged on the floor and listen...

    Where is This 16

Phil, I think Birmingham should demolish a lot more of the slum areas and build houses that people can afford even the pre-fabs they built after the war were better than what people are living in now. They should have delayed rebuilding the Bullring to give it's citizens a better choice of...

    Where is This 16

As an EX Brummie I see a lot of these old buildings on this forum and I wonder how people can live in such old buildings in this day and age. Some of these shops and houses have been standing for decades and the rooms are so small you couldn't swing a cat around. Birmingham needs to renew some...

    Erdington

I can remember as a very young child we lived in a yard somewhere in Erdington and it was next to a large Commercial Laundry and I think there was a bridge over the road and a lot of traffic. By this discription can anyone tell me what Road it was. This was probably back in the early 30s. Have...

    Hurlingham road Kingstanding

Goffy, I think I left Kingsland Rd in 1940. I think our age difference makes it possible that some of the houses had changed ownship. I am attaching a picture of Esher Rd.

    Hurlingham road Kingstanding

Goffy, I lived at the entrance to Esher Rd, at #2 and at #3 on the opposite corner lived the Hedges. He was my mate and just him and his mother lived there. We lived in that house from 1938 and I believe my mother moved out about 1958 so I don't know who moved in after that. I went to Kingsland...

    Birmingham in 1930s

    46, Bexley Road, Kingstanding

Hi Tony, We lived on Esher Rd up Cooksey Lane. Your memories of Kingstanding are the same as mine. It was a great place to live and Barr Beacon and Sutton Park were so close it never bothered us to walk there to play in the Woods or fly our model planes on the Golf course. Sadly...
