    When you say by the people for the people do you mean for some people.The last time I walked round the park it had locked gates and I happened to to be working on a house that backed on to it, all the houses had gates at the end of their gardens which allowed them to use the park.

    Vivienne I thinks these photos are taken from the Heneage St - Willis St area the one I can put an exact position is of South Tower with Loxton St School on the left and the Swan pub this would be taken from Willis St with Francis St and Bloomsbury St demolished.

    Notice only one set of Tram lines a one way system around Nechells at that time from The Green up Thimble Mill Lane down Long Acre along Cuckoo Rd and up Nechells Park Rd back to The Green.

    Canals of Birmingham

    The canal still runs along the side of Holt St Gosta Green. Dartmouth St also runs adjacent the canal, at that time there were large Glass kilns in that area. I,m not an expert but lime I believe used in the making of glass there my have been a local wharf in that area solely for this purpose.Dek
