mw0njm - I'm a bit puzzled as to why your laptop got fried! I presume it was connected to something as I would assume if it was free standing it would be immune from lightning (unless it received a direct hit!).

    Computer help

If you can connect the hard drive to an existing PC (as a secondary drive) Ccleaner is the safest option as it won't let you wipe the drive which contains the operating system. DBAN is fine but needs care; if the drive you want to erase is the only one in the PC, OK, but if it is an extra drive...

Have you tried morgancomputers.co.uk? They sell surplus and refurbished stock and I'm told they're OK although I haven't used them myself. They used to have an outlet in Brum (Five Ways I think) but now they seem to be on-line only.

Unable to access a site I have been using for many years, following a Windows update.

Are you using an Anitvirus program or just Windows Defender? If the latter, click the defender icon on the taskbar notification area (a shield) to open the security page. If any of the sections show a yellow warning, click on it and you may (!) get the option to ignore the warning

Apologies Ewan - didn't read the question properly (reminds me of school exams :worried:) Could you perhaps append/merge all the trees and then do a custom report as I mentioned before? John

    Educating children about the canals

My grand-daughter learned a lot about the canals from the BBC series 'Rosie and Jim' which was shown between 1990 and 2000. Rosie and Jim were two rag dolls who lived on a narrowboat called the Ragdoll, which was from Birmingham. They came alive when no one was looking and followed what the...

Lady P - this appears to be a painting, not a photograph, so there is no detail other than what you can see. I've lightened a few areas but I don't think that will help you. John
