    Help with dating old photo

Thanks everyone. Perhaps the style is 1880s but he wasn't fashionable and kept it into the 90s? The date of Harris being at that address seems fairly conclusive - thanks again mikejee!

    Help with dating old photo

This is the last photo (I hope) that I need a bit of help with! If anyone could put a rough date on it, I would be most grateful. The photographer was E & W Harris of 220 Mary St, Balsall Heath - I would have asked in the directory section as I did for the others, but I can't even guess at a...

    Royal Warwickshire Regiment

I thought someone might like to see this photo, of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment (or part of it at least), taken on the 28th March 1916. My great-uncle, Harold Francis Griffiths is in the second row (3rd from right). He joined up earlier that year, so assume they are all newish recruits and...

    Joseph Norris photographer

I have found from other sources that Joseph Norris was a photographer at 5 Union Passage between 1862-1885, but I have a photo giving his address as 52 New Street - can anyone tell me the years he was at this address, as I'd like to date the photo. TIA

    maurice howard studios

Hi, turns out T Pope was a little earlier than I'd thought - found on another forum: The photographer was probably Tom Pope, artist and photographer, who had a studio in Town Hall Chambers, 86 New Street. He is listed in Birmingham Directories for 1875, 1878 and 1879. That makes that one the...

    maurice howard studios

That is wonderful, thank you so much! T Pope was down as artist and photographer, at 'Town Hall Chambers' 86 New Street, and it says 'opposite the society of artists'. Very depressingly, his tagline is 'Secure the shadow, before the substance fade'!!

    Lichfield Street, Birmingham

Hi, my 4x g. grandfather Samuel Rowley was living on Lichfield Street between 1820 and 1825, according to the baptismal records of his children. It seems in 1825/6 the family moved to Lench Street, where he died in 1838. Could anyone let me know what the local parish church was? The children...
