Elan Valley and its Pipeline into Birmingham.

Jenny, the model is an outdoor feature and although no water was running through for quite a long time, the last time we went a couple of years ago I'm sure it was in full working order.

    Birmingham 1964 Footage

Another trip down memory lane, what struck me is how much smarter dressed the people were than they are today, no jeans, hoodies and tee shirts to be seen.

Weather : past adverse weather in Birmingham

I watched the TV programme last night on the 1962/63 big freeze and was surprised how bad it was, I remember it of course but my memory of a really bad winter is 1947 and so 62/63 didn't seem too bad to me. We had a coal cellar and didn't go short of coal, but decided to have a gas fire fitted...

    Val Products Sherlock St..

I remember Val Products, I used to go with Ray, they sold DIY products, he was a great improvisor and would find something cheap he could alter to suit the job in hand. Alan I don't recall him ever buying paint though.

    Stonebridge Hotel

Lyn, it does look very much like the Stonebridge Hotel, which was situated where the Stonebridge island is now. I can just about remember it, but it was demolished many years ago for road improvements. There is Stonebridge pub on the opposite side of the island to where the original hotel stood.

    Upper Thomas Street School Aston

Hi Twyning I wonder whether you remember my brother Ted Wallace, he is 86 now and has lived in Australia for over 60 years, he went to UTS mad on football, and he evacuated to Cheltenham too, he hated it and didn't stay there very long. A long shot I know.

    Birmingham boxers

I never saw Johnny Prescott box, but remember him well from childhood, I know he lived with his grandma but he used to visit a relative in Burlington Street, which may have been another grandma. Didn't he have an interest in a nightclub, over shops in Victoria Square, Birmingham, I have a vague...
