    I remember those gondola baskets too, used for cookery but they used to catch your tights if you didn't hold them over your arm the right way, if you just held them with a straight arm down by your side you had no tights left by the time you got home.

    I was remembering Nestle cream we used to have in a tin,it was thick cream not like the carnation evaporated, I think mom used to put a bit of sugar in it.

    Cookie I used to go into that shop, we used to have some sort of soda water she made. Our shop in Holte rd was Mr Maggs right opposite our house

    I lived at the top end of Sandwell rd in the 60's and I am sure the owners of the daires used to live on the opposite side of the rd from us, the were friends of my hubby's parents and we used to drink at the Garden Gate with their son Tim, but I cant just think of their last name. Was it Higgs???
