    its good they are keeping this building i used to swim there in 50s.....and we used the wash baths next door as well for a shilling you got a bathful of hot water soap and a towel .i hope the funding stretches to be able to renovate this as well as swimming baths .recall the school swimming...

    There is some truth in babies being buried in someone elses grave when the very poor couldnt afford a funeral.i found this out when i tried to find my baby brother who died in 1956..my brother was buried in a large plot for babies .at that time there were 2 cemetaries that did this brandwood...

    bernard .i lived in conybere st in the 50s in an attic high house .we had gas mantles for lighting .an outside toilet which froze every winter and a cubbyhole for a kitchen.but we had good neighbours and we kept clean in the old tin bath in front of the fire .

    Hi ..was intersted to see jack hood mentioned ..he was my grandmothers brother (annie mary)..when he died he took over a pub called the bell in tanworth in arden.his gloves are still hanging over the bar to this day .i beleive his belt was sold for a considerable amount of money when he died...

    I found the resting place of my brother who was still born in 1956.i remembered the local funeral parlour and rang them they told me a lot of babies were buried in a mass childrens grave at lodge hill cemetary.i rang them and gave the name and date of birth and they gave me the plot number and...
