    Old street pics..

I haven't got pictures but Avenue Road runs off Oxhill Road into Uplands Road; Headingley Road runs from Oxhill Road to Elmhurst Road - both are very close together in Handsworth.

It's the tiled front that caught my eye. I'll have to check it out for sure next time I'm passing.

I think it's the Prince of Wales, which is still there.

    Birmingham Statue Campaign

I don't think so. I photographed that when the Cube was just a hole in the ground 2008.

    What type of motor cycle?

Well I feel completely left out cos I can't find a link in the original post. :sorrow:

I would agree. :encouragement: Even now the council gardeners do a magnificent job. The flower troughs all along most of the city centre dual carriageways do wonders in brightening up the place. :love-struck:

    Summer Music

I think we might have a lover of the acoustic guitar here. :pride:

I'm not so sure. It was great for the middle and upper classes but with no Welfare State and next to no employment laws, I'd probably be starving.

    Birmingham Statue Campaign

Places like Brown Hills can have its miner but the difficulty in designing a monument to the industry of the "city of a thousand trades" is which one do you pick. It could be anything from a fighter plane to a fountain pen. With that in mind and being one of the minority who liked the Forward...

    Bull Ring 2003

That's what I'd like to know. It would be a shame if they wound up in a skip like the old bull sculpture did during the most recent re-development of the Bullring. But at least that had lasted from the sixties whereas those water features lasted less than 10 years!

    Motorcycle Shops

Thanks for the explanation. I had a similar problem with the fixed Spirit of Ecstasy on my roller - had to get it changed for a retracting version. :blue:

...and still very much in use.

    Dooley Thomas born Ireland 1917

Surely this can't be the Tom Dooley in the old Lonnie Donegan hit - he was hanged.

    Bull Ring 2003

It's a shame that new development has spoiled some of the views of St. Martin's. I preferred it when it was open space with those box water features. The service at that new Brown's restaurant there is also rubbish. It's well worth paying a bit extra at Janie's Italian.

    Motorcycle Shops

Just out of interest while comparing the two pictures, when did it become acceptable to go without a front number plate? They're never seen on bikes these days.

Peaky Blinders - A world away from Downton!

Re: the peaky blinders "...Peaky Blinders is a dazzling picture of England which blows away preconceptions even though the characters and events are taken directly from the pages of history. They now burst into life in a vibrant evocation of a hedonistic age, where the clothes are razor-sharp...

    Coffee Bars:

Does anyone remember the murder at the Elasona coffee bar on Soho Road? I believe the culprit served his time and went back to Handsworth where he is still living.

#2602 Construction of Hockley Flyover: I had a terrible embarrassing incident there at about the time the picture was taken. Having got off the #16 having dropped my wife to be off home in Handsworth Wood I got took short for a pee before catching the #8 to Ladywood. A convenient entry leading...

What a nice clean picture. I suspect there was a lot of dodging and burning (now made obsolete by digital editing) during the processing to produce that print... :encouragement: Oh, and I never knew that had been a Dunlop property on the left! :cower:

How many non-jewish tailors are there? :pride: BTW, isn't it Zimmerman you're thinking of?
