    Ossy Osbourne

I only noticed this set into the pavement on Boad Street the other day. Now hear there's another for Jasper Carrot. I'll have to sort that one out.

    Don Street, Winson Green

Thanks pmc1947 I was trying to recall where it was the other day in a discussion about the Don (Winson Green Tavern?) pub which, I believe, was on the corner with Lodge Road. Although I pass it regularly I now cannot think what replaced that street. I'll have to go and take another look.

Swimming costumes! What are they? At the age of four I got lost on the beach at Rhyl in me Aertex underpants cos I hadn't got a swimming cossy. :Aah: Mom was going around embarrassed, asking people if they'd seen her little scally in his undies. ??? Barton's Arms High Street Aston

Vikki, It would seem there are no records pre-dating its rebuild in 1900/1? Have a look here: https://tinyurl.com/ypfn86

    Why

Jacqueline wrote: I read somewhere that art galleries are a very popular place for single people to meet potential partners. I too spent, and still do, a lot of time at the BM&AG. I once took some Irish visitors there who'd just finished a cultural tour of Europe and they were...

That's right Bob. If they did it's likely to be on the very rare occasion that I'm in there.

    West Brom Baths Question

Anne, Forge Lane is still a Lane. Despite what I stated in my earlier post, around there was one of my old haunts. There's a bit about it on the main Handsworth site - "Handsworth and Beyond". The whole area has now been developed into a country park. Have a look here: https://tinyurl.com/269msj

    West Brom Baths Question

Thanks for the info, Anne, and the great pictures. I don't think you're straying too far. My trouble was not straying far enough. I never got passed the Baggies' ground so know little about that other world.

Yes Phil - it was Eden Place. I recall him as a scriber with a lot of his work being done in chalk on the flagstones. I also heard the rumour that he was picked up by a limo at the end of the day.

    Washday Copper Boilers Mangles

Gail still gets her fingers caught in the one we've got when she rushes things on a busy washday. :P If that's not bad enough those wooden rollers can leave the odd splinter behind as well. :Aah:

    Edmund Street

I think it's in Holiday Street now - can't swear to it though as it's not somewhere I use very often... well not to get married.

    Old Birmingham Repertory Theatre

I don't think the Old Rep ever competely closed. Even though they've been only amateur productions, I've seen a couple of plays there in recent years. They always seem to have a Christmas pantomime or play of one sort or another. Here ya go: https://tinyurl.com/27llt6 & https://tinyurl.com/yt8wqm

What has happened to our great statues ?

We don't agree on everything  but it would seem my taste in sculpture and public art is very close to Rod's. I loved Forward, Enterpise and the Iron Man. I know absolutely nothing about the making of Forward but I do know there was a slight con in Birmingham being led to believe that...

    Birmingham characters

Yes, Judy, I remember the escapologist. They'd chain him and put him in a sack. It used to frighten me, but I was only three at the time. Anne, Enoch and Eli (Aynock and Ayli) used to stray over the border at one time now, sadly, one of them (forget which) has died. I recall first...
