    Yes you can still buy dubbin,for your boots,they even sell it in tubes. However,there is a better product called G-Wax,available from Millets.

    We ate whale meat and horse meat,there was still a horse meat shop in Park Rd.Aston probably after rationing had finished.We had no junk food or sweets, and my opinion is,us growing up during the war were the healthiest fed generation of all.:encouragement:

    Annette, We lived in Clifton Rd.but I spent more time in Tower Rd.with my mates,so can still remember a few family names from there.I also went to U.T.S.1941-1951.

    Frothy, I saw some brycreem in Wilkos last week, first time for years,But it was a brownish colour,I think it was a jel. Didn't buy any though,bald as a coot now,a bit of Mr Sheen and buffed up with an old sock is good enough.:rolleyes:

    Have to agree with you Rupert.However,when I was in my final year at school,we were given lessons in local government and public speaking.Perhaps it was because,a few of our teachers had just helped to win a war and felt they had earned the right to improve the lot of the poorer people of society.

    A name for a notorious street that has cropped up in my family research is London Prentice St.but I haven't found out much about it. Does anyone know anything about it?.
