    I think it is the auxillary's sometimes known as the black and tans. They served in Ireland in the early 1920s. His medals would denote he also served in the first world war.

    Chris and Elizabeth, I remember German P.O.W.s working in Aston Park ( we made their lives hell ),I thought they were billeted at Villa park,There were some British infantry there.

    Dec, One incedent I recall c1960,a 15 year old lad went into the Extrusion mill to show of his first ever pay packet,he was killed by an exploding billet. Nah,good riddance to it,and all it stood for.
