I remember Humphries shop well from the late 50s/early 60s. What a nice old chap he was ! I'd forgot the laundry though. There was another shop, Browns I think, and a cobblers on the corner which was owned by Susan Maughans dad.

Dunno Why, Possibly from Taffy Lewi's book, but I think the BSA site in Armory Rd was previously Lloyds Farm, and there was also a drop forge around there somewhere. I'm sure somebody on here will tell you if I'm wrong.

There was a sort of fad at one time to name the lounge, like the Broadway had the smugglers cove, The yew tree had the rio grande, the avenues had hells kitchen etc. Maybe the Stagecoach had the Buccaneer, I can remember seeing the sign from the road, and the locations about right.

You could see it in the dip on the right as you drove towards the clock garage from the collector road. Certainly in the late 60s early 70s anyway. There was another Buccaneer at b'ham airport by the way.

old family history surname lists -- beware

What worries me is that banks and credit card companies etc. always want to use your mothers maiden name as a password, and its easy to find it on these sites. Theres that many kids with unmarried mothers round here these days, I wonder what they will do in the future. :D
