Yes a block is a wooden block butchers use to cut meat
So they would I presume use the same for the fish and poultry
I can’t believe that my great grandfather worked here and then 60 years later my husband worked in the same or near the actual same spot as a butcher … very uncanny
Hi I’ve been researching my family tree and found that my great grandfather was a poulterers assistant at Simpson and sons 6 bull street in the 1921 census I was wondering where about number 6 is ?
As my husband was manager of Matthews the butchers in bull street back in the 80s I know his shop...
