Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a Turks Head Pub in Birchfield Rd bottom of Chain Walk which ran down from Lozells Rd ? There was another pub opposite but the name escapes me. Sid Walker.
ABC Minors
Alas I don't have my badge mores the pity, just great memories of days gone by. I got caught once sneaking in,but I was too early before the doors opened,and was quickly thrown out. :(
Does anyone remember being a "ABC Minor" on a Saturday morning at the cinema at Six Ways. A serial, lots of cartoons,maybe the Three Stoogies,and no advertisments!!!! Memories indeed. :lol: :lol:
You haven't lived unless you went to the Globe, the cheap seats. The doorman whould come down the aisle with a fly-spray full of a perfume. And the session wouldn't be complete without a black out on the screen.

Ther once was a shop just up from the Hip and opposite the Bartons that sold Tripe and Cowheel. You took a jug and the lady filled it up I took many a sip before I delivered my errand back and earned my sixpence. Does anyone remember that place ?
Herbalists
There was one in New Street on the way down to the Globe Pictures and one on the corner with Alma Street. They both had a cough medicine that was so good to drink that it was a pleasure to have a cough. On the down side they were the places to get Sennapods,my Gran' thought I needed...
