    Old street pics..

Found this print on Fb "Old Photos of Birmingham" States that it is Camp Hill and that combination of tram and bus design dates it as early 1950's but where on Camp Hill? Looks a bit too leafy for the junction of Stratford Rd and Sandy Lane but can't think where else it could be. Suggestions.

Evacuation Of Children World War 2

That looks like the Central GS blazer badge to me.

    Bull Ring 1930s - 1950s

Certainly not later than 1956. The occasional tram came up Camp Hill to the depot (Kyotts Lake) until that date. There's a bus coming out of Moor Street behind the tram. As you say St Martin's to the left.

    Old street pics..

How did I not recognise this picture? I went to school in 1950's on number 11 bus route, on same route to work in 1960's through this junction, even went to Hall Green tech for a while. I still remember that School Rd and Colebank Rd were misaligned with a layby where you could park for a quick...

Wasn't there a HMSO somewhere near to there? Perhaps on the RH corner?

    In the garden 2022

Stripping ivy from the wall Saturday afternoon I managed to cut through the telephone land line. I have had a couple of days without all the benefits of fibre. No kindle, Alexa, BHF, Facebook etcetera, etcetera. But at eight am a fresh faced young man arrived and has now reconnected me to the...

    Horseshoe tunnel

In 1960's would regularly use this tunnel to get from outer circle at Stirchley to the estate at Dawberry Fields.

    Where was your first holiday?

Eatonway's featured very much in my life. They took me from Garretts Green to Junior School in Bordesley Green while we waited for Blakenhale to be built. (1948-49) Day trips to seaside with my mom and brothers in 1950's. Transport to work at WB Umberslade in late 1950-60's. Apprentice trips to...

    Rootes Birmingham

Hired an Imp in 1970 and off we went to Bologna. Good small vehicle for two people to go on a camping holiday, massive "boot" at the front, lots of space on the folded rear seats. I suppose we did some 2000 miles in a fortnight without missing a beat. Picture. In Lauterbrunnen.

Corner of Albert Road, Kings Heath

In rural surroundings quite possible to keep a cow in a shed/barn. Not sure if B'ham bye-laws would allow it! During war remember pigs in Tyseley.

Corner of Albert Road, Kings Heath

Surprised to find that on 1910 map there was a row of houses on Alcester Rd between Albert Rd and Howard Rd. ie Where Children's play area is now.

    fish and chip shops

Anyone remember a chippy that in 1970's was in Long Acre near Cuckoo Bridge. Run by Pete and Nitsa . Tried to look on google but it is so different around there. Pete's brother ran a chippy in the Horse Fair in town, opposite the Dome. Think the family name was Elias.

    fish and chip shops

If ever we were around West Heath we would use a shop that I recall as "Fairfax" probably 1970's.

    Barnt Green Station

Don't think it is a false memory, it was at Barnt Green that I first witnessed the passing of the token as the train went on to the Redditch branch, engine driver also took a pot of tea out to the signal man. Probably 1965ish, steam train, lecture at Redditch college. Later it became my local...
