Just re read this thread, what a wonderful read this is. I joined May 31 2015. One of the first things I do each morning (late morning for most of you) with a cup of tea or coffee. I really enjoy the comments, the history that I missed growing up. Thank you all for making my daily start so...

That is so good that they had to pay for the errors of their ways. We need to have more deterrents like that!

Cummins issues all of their employees globally a digital pedometer to count and download still today. As part of health in the workplace.

Must have been a “hairy ride” sitting on top of that stage coach! Quite high up on bumpy roads width I am sure no seat belts!

PhD Research. Fatal Drownings in 20th Century Birmingham

Last time I swam in a canal at about 14/15, we were canoeing in the canal off I think college road when fooling around we turned it over. Fully clothed in the summer, we laughed and let the sun dry us off. It seemed as Pedro suggests there were always people in the canal, some swimming but some...

Do you think that the canals were a very convenient way/place to eliminate someone rather than an accidental drowning?

Ah yes! One of the cornerstones of good project management, stay focused or you will get tangential and the activity/results will blur badly and become out of focus very quickly. We came across many other opportunities but put them in what we called “the parking lot” so that we did not loose...

I recall many incidents at Witton Lakes. Also we built canvas canoes at school and camped with them for a week or two (can’t recall exactly) on the Severn in the summer. We were always told that the Severn was not always friendly and the closer you go to its mouth the more daunting it could be...

So very disappointing, the defendants are released, another toothless law. Looks like they are taking a page out of NY law files. As long as there is no penalty with lawyers negotiating the level of fault it will keep going on and on.

Agree and while in the US we don’t have the history it still needs to be preserved. I have seen as late as yesterday a person with a member of LLC’s lost a judgment for $139,000 and has over 60 remains on the docket. Not historic but no the less when he came to me I certainly advised him against...

An LLC is in my mind a very weak sister for a company. I own a consultancy that is Incorporated (limited), while we are small we have a few clients that prefer Inc than an LLC. The LLC protects the owners liability but tends to allow fewer checks and balances as how you/owner conducts business...

    Edgbaston Reservoir

That is certainly not something we should be proud of. There are some that say that clear water globally will be an even more precious and expensive commodity.
