    I have an excellent book by Fran and Martin Collins called 'They also serve who stand and wait'. A history of Pheasey Farms, US Army Replacement depot-sub depot of the 10th Replacement Depot 1942/1945. Lots of stories and photographs from people involved there. (Brewin Books).

    Yes it caught a bomb as it was close to the bus garage which was heavily bombed, I remember it used to have a great big piece of wood leaning against it propping it up.

    You could eat inside the cafe so perhaps they were being posh and and saying dining rooms. I used to go most mornings to get a sausage sandwich for Peggy/Newsagents.
