BOOK - can't find this book anywhere?

Try Goldstone books they are in Carmarthenshire, with a big warehouse at Llandybie. They have a website and deal in second hand books.

Does anyone remember the Bacchus Bar?

Yes, it was accessed from the arcade beneath the hotel. It had some Egyptian type pillars in there if I remember, it's been 20+ years since I drank in Brum but it was a decent enough place

Benson Road School 50 years anniversary train crash

From my vague memories it was an extremely warm day. All I really remember about the day is looking out the small compartment window and seeing a broken door hanging off a carriage towards the rear of the train, and subsequently arriving back at the school by bus seeing crowds of parents...

Benson Road School 50 years anniversary train crash

Wasn't sure whether to start a new thread, or put it on the Benson Road school site as I did last year, but felt it important to get it at the forefront of the forum. On the 2nd July 50 years ago 2 young children Wayne Dandy aged 11, and Katherine Clarke aged 10, lost their lives on the way...

Fanny's (fanny By Gaslight) Snow Hill

I used a bar in this building/area in the early/mid 80's. I remember Fanny's but don't remember that being the name of the bar! Did it ever trade under a different name, I always enjoyed the music in there and of course the Lowenbrau! Ps I don't recall the name ubs either

    Henry Pooley & Sons

I was an apprentice at W&T Avery and remember Pooley as being a subsidiary. If I remember correctly they painted their scales green as opposed to the Avery post office red. From what I've seen on Google Avery took over Pooley in 1913

    Hockley Brook floods

My memory of the Brook was climbing in to get our ball back when we used to play football in Newton Place by the old bottle exchange, which I'm sure I've seen mentioned on here too!

    Pub Quiz League

Well done to Keiron for taking the time & effort to set the varied daily posers and, also, to everybody who took part. I, and, certainly others have probably reminisced their past haunts and ones they never even knew existed, great fun. Well done again to Curly, a great effort. Being a close...

    Penns Lane Sutton Coldfield

Played football for Newman Tonks (Hockley) on R.M.Douglas (cement?) sports field off Penns Lane. Don't know how or why they played there, but my Aunt lived off Pitts Farm so used to nip off there after.
