    I was born near Villa Park, left when I was 21, and have now lived in South Yorkshire for 47 years. Local people still ask, “ Are you from Birmingham”? Even after so long our accents are still the give away. AC.

    I recall that Sheffield hosted the world student games more than 20 years ago, running up a debt of £685 million. The residents of Sheffield are still paying for it. It will be April 2024 when the debt is finally cleared. I do hope Birmingham learns from this unfortunate episode.
