    Lewis's Department Store

I remember the children`s hair dept and sitting on the animals. The lady would "singe" my hair with a lighted taper ! never understood why, just terrified the life out of me ! The roof garden, was it only open for a short time? because I only remember going the odd time. Mom and myself were in...

Oh my hero !! In my mind I knew I`d seen Roy Rogers and Trigger at the Hippodrome. My Mom, Nan and myself were sat in the aisle seats. If I remember correctly Trigger and Roy Rogers walked up the aisle past us and I was so excited !!! I was only about 6 years old so your time of 1954...

    Groups We Have Seen Live

Around 1963/64 I used to go to Kingshurst Youth Club and on a Sunday night we would travel by coach to the Coventry Theatre and see all the top groups. I know we had a great time and I still love the 60`s music. However it sounds really weird but I really can`t say who we saw. Is that daft or what ?

    Market Hall 1835 - 1963

Yet again you have woken up many memories. Thank you. The photos are great. Saturday afternoon up to town on the 28 or 58/60, walking around the outside market with my Mom and Dad, always something magical to me as a child - the man in chains escaping from a big old hessian sack, my family laugh...

Re: Ward End Park - Replacing some old Pictures (5) In the 1920`s my family lived in St Saviours Road. My great Grandad Alf was a park keeper at Ward End park. Mom used to say that if the kids played him up then he would lock them in until the school bell rang. He`d let them out and they`d run...
