I came across this headed notepaper for sale on Ebay which set me off exploring:

Henry followed his father John [a silver thimble maker] into the jewellery trade. He started Henry Griffiths & Sons, [as it later became known], in 1850. His premises were at 131 Warstone Lane and the firm developed into a major player in the jewellery trade; indeed in 1916 he was described as the "father of the jewellery trade".
Their products were far ranging and of good quality and are still very sought after.

As befitted a successful business man Henry moved to to Field House, Church Lane, Handsworth where he died age 91 in 1917. An obituary can be read on Forum under Church Lane Handsworth, post 25 [thank you Vivienne].
Sadly [for Birmingham] in 1919/20 the firm moved to a new purpose built factory in Leamington.. Silver hallmarked thimbles were made at both sites and I came across this booklet - I wish I could read a copy as I'm sure it would contain much information about Henry Griffith & Sons! The Leamington factory closed in 1980.
