EDIT: This thread was originally started by tuisitala but her post was lost. She was requesting an insight into the working life of her grandad (bargee). What follows was my response.

Hi tuisitala, welcome to the forum, is this your grandfather on the 1921 census?

Yes. They lived at Liverpool Street until they were bombed out. My mother, Ellen and sister Ivy had to be dug out from their shelter. They then moved to Stoke Street (8 back 10?) near the Basin.

I can't help about your grandad's working life but have attached an aerial view of their house (poor quality unfortunately).

Sorry about the dual thread. I thought I had moved it to the M-P section, but seemed to have copied it there instead. Other one now deleted

Hi Mike, tuisitala's opening message is missing from this thread and it therefore appears that the thread was started by me. If you can't reinstate it I can edit my response to it.
