Hi, I attended Dixon Road Infants and Junior school along with my brothers and sister in the late 1950's until mid 1960,s, lots of happy memories of the school. we lived in Cooksey road just on the corner by Dixon Road.

Hi Joyce,

Was at Dixon Road Junior 1957-63 and lived in Victoria Avenue (footpath only between Lawden Rd and Bolton Rd). Graham Humphries lived next door and Eric Jones on the other side. We all got through the 11+ and went to Bordesley Green Technical School for Boys. Moved out of Brum in 1967 when they cleared the 'slums'. Happy days.

I went to Dixon Rd, it was my first school. I left in 67 to be a ten pound pom at the age of 10.
I have some great memories, my best friends, Jimmy Smithers John Milnes and a lovely lass named Leslie Gould.
Jimmy and I were a bit disruptive it seems, I remember a certain slipper reminding my bottom to behave lol.

The building has been gone back to it's roots of being a building providing education for local residence. The school is an community funded secondary school for girls with 127 on roll. The building has been significantly refurbished.

I attend Dixon Road up until 1975, when I went to secondary school. There used to be two big halls, one upstairs and one downstairs. Looks like the one upstairs has had partitions put up to create classrooms\office space. If you look above that you can see the high vaulted ceiling which that hall had.
 
My first school was Regents Park I was in the infants part from 1976 then I attended Dixon Road for short while from September 1978 to January 1979 when I went from infants to juniors then our class transferred over to Regents Park on Arthur Street, not sure why I attended both schools at the time, but I remember the winter of 1978 at Dixon Rd the play ground was awful if it was icy trying to get out of sloping play ground was treacherous, back then all the school walls were over 6ft with big green or blue wooden gates, these walls were knocked down in the early 80s and replaced with smaller walls. At Dixon Rd and Regents Park our headmaster was Mr Barber he was lovely guy, he loved playing the piano and singing hymns, Deputy Head was Mr Jarvis (sorry to say Mr Jarvis was a mean and frightening man and an utter bully) just glad I was never in his class during this time, I tried to keep my distance from him as much as possible, I enjoyed my time at Regents Park left in 1982 and went to Arden Secondary School on the Bordesley Green Road
