BAB,when are you too old to be 'Bab'

I'm 68 and live near Bristol. Our local garden centre has a butchers run by Brummies. Last time I bought something there, one of the butchers called me Bab!
I don't know if he had clocked I was from Birmingham but I can't help thinking that calling old blokes Bab is going to cause some confusion down here in Somerset.

could have been worse mate he could have called you "darling"

:D

If you've ever been to Birmingham (UK), chances are you've heard someone say "Y'aright, bab?" So what does "bab" mean? It's a local term of endearment — like "love, or "darling", or "mate" — used by Brummies to show friendliness and warmth

i dont like it was alright when we was around 10 yrs old.
but not grown up, me thinks it is disrespectful
also it is not so bad in brum but here if you called some one BAB you could get a thick ear.
