Ms Minnie Lloyd 1938

The bottom 2 blanks are most likely the twins. The other could well be Minnie - left blank if she was not known to have died when the regster was released.

This is all the information I have at the moment I am waiting for my cousin to send me anything else she has for my uncle. Many thanks

Not a lot of help but she appears to be listed on the 1935ER. Her address is given as near 53 Hunters Road. The Carnegie Institute and a building labelled as Jewellery Works are unnumbered, shown between 29 & 83.

So, I'd assume she's at the Carnegie Institute then.

I am a complete novice at this but my dad and uncle are trying to get as much information as possible. They tried many years ago but hit to many brick walls to carry. My step daughter is trying to help also. So thank you

The most likely candidate would seem to be the Minnie Lloyd, Lyn mentioned in post #8 but proving it might be difficult.

It might be a case of one of the twins doing a dna test and hoping to get a match.

could prove difficult with so little info to go on...on the 39 eve of war census i have found a minnie lloyd single born 1911 occupation domestic nurse living with a george webb and leslie webb and charles fraser but we cant be certain we have the correct minnie lloyd..

Thank you I will ask my step daughter to research it for me
Many thanks again

Thank you they did do DNA tests but didn't know what to do with them I have got my step daughter looking into it
Many many thanks for all your help it's greatly appreciated

this is the 39 eve of war census for the minnie lloyd i mentioned in my post 8...writing is not good so i cant make out the name of the road but flipping back a page its off the warwick road which is where the challenders lived so my guess is this is our minnie lloyd looks like it says born 29th dec 1911 so we now have her date of birth..

Here's a photo of the Carnegie Institute just a couple of years later...

The same photo was posted on here some years ago with a couple of others...

On the 1939 eroll the names listed as "near 53" are listed on the 1939 reg as at Carnegie Institute. So I think it is safe to assume she was at the Institute in 1935.

Assuming that the Minnie Lloyd at Shirley Road in 1939 is the correct one and taking her given dob as correct I tried to find a birth reg. for her. However, there are no local ones and I wouldn't have any confidence in the ones further afield.

With no future married name shown there is no matching death that I can see for a Minnie Lloyd but I think that the listing of married names is not infallible.

All of which suggests something is not right somewhere, full name or dob maybe, though she could have emigrated.

The only small thing that pops up is a marriage of a Minnie Lloyd to a William Douglass (Sep 1954 Wednesbury) as his second wife, she then appears to die in 1963. The age is slightly off but I can't see a matching Minnie for her on the 1939 Register.

And again even if (a very big if) it was her then there wouldn't be a way to prove it as she probably would have been too old to have had any children with him for dna.

all good observations mark...i too am stumped as nothing is certain although i did wonder if minnie had emigrated..however there is a family tree on ancestry for henry challender and the tree holder says she is researching the lloyds in wales so i dont know if wales is a clue or not

I should add that on the certificate it says "domestic servant" so I am not sure she was a nurse.
On the 39 Carnegie employs nurses but also maids of various types.

There is no Minnie Lloyd on 1935 register of nurses
