Help finding burial records.

Suzanneiom

knowlegable brummie
Hi all ive been building my family tree for acouple of years now. The Italian side of my family came over to Birmingham in the 1900s and lived in and around duddeston row, then stayed around the north of Birmingham, hockey, handworth, lozells and Aston. I am specifically looking for 4 burials of my great grandparents and great great grandparents. ive recently ordered death certificates of two of them which confirm the death was registered in Birmingham. the first death was 1924 , two after that date and the last being 1939 so It was some time ago.

Ive searched find a grave, ancestry, Birmingham city council website and called the council and the 4 members I am looking for there is no record of them at any council cemetery. im just wondering where the hell they would be? The council said there would definitely be a record if they were at witton or lodge hill (where other members of my family are buried) but there is no record of them.

Does anyone know what else I can try? they must be somewhere all four of them.

If they are of Italian descent then the may have been buried in a Catholic church, St Joseph's Nechells for example.

If you give their names, someone might be able to help.
yes i was thinking the same thing...as mark said if you can give us their names and ages when died we maybe able to help

Thankyou so much.
My great great grandparents
felice Iommi died December 1933 his wife Angelina iommi died 1924
then onto my great grandparents
Giuseppe iommi spelt wrong on death records as (Yommi) died 1927 and his wife Maria Iommi died 1939
They all lived at one point on duddeston row, then buck street. Felice then spent his final years living lozells road in Aston.

let me know if you need any more info :))

Birmingham Archdiocese Catholic burials are on Find My Past. I can search with a name but you need a subscription to access

Had a quick look but couldn't see them

Me neither. And reading the info about the records it seems to say that the records are only available upto 1907 unfortunately and are restricted afterwards.

And with there being no record anywhere else it may perhaps suggest that they were buried in a Catholic church/cemetery.

I know they have more than 100 year closure.
The alternative might be to contact St Chad's archives to see if you can search more recent records but it would be time consuming.

hi suzzanne i have search the records for birmingham city council crems and cems and nothing has come up as yet..my guess is they are all buried at the same place...possibly st josephs nechells.

Thankyou for these, they're also family members, one being the daughter of Giuseppe who I am looking for... its such a head scratcher, id expect them to be buried at those ones above too.

Thankyou just noticed this reading through

"I estimate that the burial registers on microfilm contain many thousands of names of people buried between 1860s and 1960s"

Birmingham library mentioned microfilm to me.. worth a shot.

That's interesting, hmmm I ordered felice iommi death certificate and it come a few days ago, that was his address, he did die in 1933, his son Giovanni was present. I have seen "Alfred felice iommi" a few times come up in a search, I am not sure who he is, maybe its his son. because he had 6 children and Ionly have found two.

how old was felice and wife angelina when they died its so that i can work out their date of birth

lyn
felice -1848-1933
Angelina 1848-1924
giuseppe 1876-1927
Maria 1882-1939

Ive been searching on/off for about two months, and I think its safe to say there isn't a digital copy of the burial records. I asked AI and it said Birmingham library hopefully have a written copy.
I bought the death certificates of felice and Giuseppe, and no resting place was on there. There are alot of mis spellings with my surname
yommi tommi jommi .. ive tried them too but nothing.

Do you think the library is the best option?
