well folks the day has arrived at last ..even if they are not your cup of tea they are most certainly brummie legends :)

I dropped my son and his mate off earlier. They have just played a message from Dolly Parton to the audience. So, it's not all heavy metal. ;), but each act is building up the occasion to what will be quite a crescendo (I'm getting regular phone clips), when Sabbath come on at the end. I'm sure that everyone that's lucky enough to be there, will have a day that they will always remember, as Tommy Trinder used to say, "you lucky people".:) There is also a large inflatable claret & blue beach ball, being passed amongst the crowd.

i have been following the live reporting..for a man suffering with parkinsons he is truely amazing he managed 5 solo songs and i think sabbath is up next to join him...keep scrolling down for photos and comments...

As Brummies, we are inherently self effacing. Black Sabbath were all that, sure they have money, but they're still are just Brummies.

I saw them,(a few times) but once, early on, in their journey, I was getting paid, as a ticket collector at the Town Hall. Gawd it was so loud, and felt so good, I went out the next day and made my parents lives hell:innocent:

My lad came back on Saturday night with his ears ringing, as had been anticipated. :grinning: It was a great day for all those lucky enough to be there and it was so nice that all of the bands took no fee for their performances. Acorns Children's Hospice, Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity and Cure Parkinson's will get some hefty cheques as a result. Nice to see so many fans in Aston and Birmingham city centre, visiting places such as The Crown in Station Street (if only it had been open, they would have taken a fortune behind the bar) that were associated with the band.:) Sabbath were amazing and it was such a tremendous final performance from them, back where it all started. Some photographs from the night (1 Guns n Roses, 2 Ronnie Wood, 3 Steven Tyler, 4 Geezer Butler, 5 Bill Ward, 6 Tony Iommi, 7 & 8 Ozzy Osborne):

Thanks John,(nice article) apart from the bottom right photo that is. Only joking, football rivalries apart. well done Aston Villa for doing a really good thing, helping those charities. It will have legendary status in the years ahead, I've no doubt.
