A 1930s view. The road seems to be unfinished. Maybe the houses had just been finished. There are no newly planted trees in view either.
Or maybe the road was unadopted ?
There's a telegraph pole still in situ today and probably in use. Several poles can be seen in the B&W photo. Some very nice solid garden gates on the right-hand side, now all gone.
There are dropped kirbs, but I'm surprised that all the houses with dropped kirbs had garages in the 1930s. Very perceptive of the architects if there were. Looks like provision for off-street parking had been to the side/rear of the houses. Looking at modern day views I think there would have been room for a garage between the houses, but some have since extended their houses into that space.
I think the verges alongside the pavement are typical of the 1930s; grassed all along the street. Surprised to see these are still there; maintenance costs having put an end to many grass verges.
