Toye

Dinkyt

proper brummie kid
I am Terence Albert Toye born in Birmingham 1944 to Beatrice Lily Toye(nee Rose) and Albert Henry Toye with my paternal grandfather also Albert Henry Toye. Currently resident in Spain. If anyone has any information regarding possible family or genealogy it would be very helpful.

A bit of a discrepancy between the mmn listed on Albert jnr's birth reg. (Taylor) to his mother's (Leah) surname listed on her marriage reg. to Albert snr (Evans).

Explained by Leah's mother (Ellen) marrying twice, first to a William Evans (Leah's father) and then to a George Henry Taylor.

Despite appearing to not marry until 1927 Ellen is listed as George's wife on the 1911 census and weirdly her 2 children are listed as son/daughter of wife by future marriage. Not sure if the late marriage implies that William Evans was still alive.

Interesting as I had no idea that my fathers mother Leah Elizabeth Toye may have been married twice. My father I understand was twin but the other twin did not make it.

Sorry, it wasn't your father's mother that married twice, it was your father's grandmother (Leah's mother) that married twice.

Leah's father was a William Evans and her step father was George Henry Taylor.

When she married she was listed (correctly) as Leah Evans but when her son was born his mother's maiden name was (incorrectly) listed as Taylor.
