Coffee House Cherry Orchard Cherry Street

Mrs Sarah Aston seems to have been running a coffee shop from her dwelling in Cherry Street from at least 1777. Hard to say what the official name of this establishment was, but it was known by "the sign of the Coffee-pot" or "Mrs. Aston's Coffee-house".

By 1790 the premises had become the Union Tavern and Coffee House, Cherry Street

I think it may not hav ebeen a coffee house, but merely using the coffee house sign. See 1770m directory


by 1777 she just appears to live at the Cherry Orchard

1790 the Union Tavern and Coffee House was the late Mrs Astons (By 1791, the coffee house building had been demolished and the Union Tavern had been entirely rebuilt in its place)..
