Hi All,

I am sure that the Drakes Drum used to be a Berni Inn or it had an extention on the side building so it was a Pub/Berni Inn Restaurant...can't find anyone who remembers it so perhaps I have got confused.....please Help......:)

Hi, I moved to Birkenshaw Rd near Drakes Drum as a 12 yr old in 1953 and left in 1960. Never a sign of a Berni Inn in those days!

Back then it may very well have been a Berni Inn, I n my time living in Great barr I cannot ever remember going into the actual pub, only to the side door, I no longer live in the area after moving over seas to NZ, but have been back in the UK for nearly 3 years now visiting family, Some still live up the road. I've been past several times now and always alow down. I thing by the looks the door where we went in for the disco is closed up. So many lovely memories and friends made in that room. The dj once forgot is records, so a bunch of us shot back home and I gathered to my 12" collection to loan him for the night. The disco was delayed for a while that night. This would have been 1980 ish I was 18 then. There was a guy, made friends with he dressed and looked like David sylvian out of Japan. Such good times that can never be repeated.
