My dad was born at 3 back of 6 Bagot Street in 1912. I suppose, looking at these photos, the only way was up..
My mum was born in 1 Back of 21 Bagot Street in 1932. She was a Cox and her mum‘s maiden name was Murphy. Looking at your notes about London Prentice Street, I think we have a connection Lynne (Austin, Pugh, Gallagher) Are you on the Ancestry site at all?

ive had this one for years and must have posted it on the old st pics thread so here it is again...

Sorry to say but if you look at Lynne Webb's avatar you will see that underneath it says "gone but not forgotten" indicating that Lynne is no longer with us. :(

Can anyone tell me if there was a Workhouse on Bagot Street ? one of my ancestors, Richard Busst, has 6 Bagot St listed as his place of death, but is also said to have died in a workhouse !

..as far as i am aware there was no workhouse in bagot st...what exactly does it say on his death cert ? and when did he die ? my best guess is he lived at bagot st and was taken to the workhouse infirmary where he died..if you do have his death cert could we see it please

Hi, yes, I think you may be right, he must have died in Birmingham Workhouse infirmary, but his last address was 6 Bagot St. I do not have access to his death cert, just documents gathered on Ancestry. Richard Busst was only 32 when he died in 1893.

My Great uncle Patrick Murphy, was married to a Mary Isabella Busst. Her father was Benjamin. He was a whipmaker from Birmingham. They are both buried in St Gregory 's churchyard in Stratford upon Avon. Busst is an unusual name is there any connection with your family?

Yes, my great grandad was John George Busst and I have several branches of the Busst family in my tree, Mary Isabella was a 1st cousin x5 removed, I believe her and your great uncle Patrick were married in Aston, but at some point moved to Stratford upon Avon.

I have found out quite a bit about Mary Isabella. She married Patrick quite late in life. She was a teacher and ended up teaching at the Catholic school in Stratford. Her elder sister and niece also lived in Stratford in Payton street where they ran a boarding house. Isabella was on the 1911 census living with her sister and niece. This is where I have lost track of Patrick. Mary Isabella died in 1913 her Father, Benjamin died a few years before. Patrick and she are on the 1901 census living in Guild st where the school was. Mary Isabella is noted on the 1911 census as suffering from severe arthritis. Her niece emigrated to Canada I often wondered if Patrick did, and his wife was meant to follow, but was too ill and or died or did he abandon her.
I have a photograph of the gravestone at St Gregory's and the house where she lived in Payton St. I live in Stratford and found the grave by chance.
