Swallow Raincoats

I worked at Swallow Raincoats straight from school in the Purchase Accounts office from 1964 to 1968 under a lady called Mrs Davies. I remember Miss Porter who was in charge of the general office, Miss Tonk was in charge of the wages office who was also helped by another girl called Carole. and Miss Kinnard who was Personnel Manager. Mr Butler was the Managing Director and there were 2 other Directors that I remember Mr Parkes who's secretary was Miss Thorley and Mr Crouch who's secretary was Jean Brough. I loved the juke box area in the canteen it seemed so grown up to me as I was only 15 then.
Hi Carole and others.
Not sure of the exact date but it was probably around 1959, so just a brief note as I would have been 10.
Miss Porter was my Aunt (RIP) Phillis Irene Porter, I never heard anyone call her PIP, did anyone?
She took me to work some Saturday mornings, only a few people were there in the building and while she did her work I lay on the tray of the empty double file trolleys and scooted around the office desks. Great fun.
Lunch time was a trip to the upstairs canteen, I loved the leftover curly cheese sandwiches.
Returning home she would buy me a toy or some collector stamps.
Some of the names mentioned in peoples posts I vaguely remember.
Good times I miss my Aunt.

Seasons Greetings.
I come across some suitcases in my attic recently (adding more roof insulation) they have been there for a long time.
One of them contained a catalogue from Swallow Raincoats and more of my Aunt's (PIP) stuff, When I've looked throught it I'll post if I find anything that relates to this thread.
Talking about it with my wife she reminded me that PIP spent a time travelling to Manchester from the Lye to work for Swallow I think.
Did Swallow have a concern in Manchester? I remember Netherton!
All the best
Lance
PS I tried sending a PM to CaroleD but have not received a reply, is she still around??
