Clara Morris lived at 23 Ashted Row at some time (1914-15 ish). A son Samuel and a daughter Emily are the only 2 family members I know about). Son born Walsall? Another address 28 Rirly? (not clear) Road, Winson Green (again 1914 - 15ish). Son Samuel KiA 21.10.14 2nd Worcesters (address details from pension ledger details).
Not a lot to go on but any help finding something regards the above named would be most appreciated.

hi theodore im sure a few of us will try and help...do you have the date of birth for clara or at least the year also husbands name...also do you have her on any of the census years ?

The only info that I have are on my original post. The address info as mentioned from Pension ledger (Army). I know its not much to go on but all I have. The birth details (Walsall) for Samuel from Soldiers died.

its going to be difficult then peter...we have no date of birth for samuel..no fathers name..no occupation before he joined up..nothing i can see to say how old he was when KIA.. :rolleyes: so as you say very little info

was samuel related to you ?

This is not the correct family as on the effects reg it says Samuel enlisted in 1903 so the Samuel on this census record would be unlikely to be old enough to become even a boy soldier.
 
Peter - in post #1 you give an address of Ashted Row and another where the road name in Winson Green is unclear. Was this from the pension card? If so are you able to scan it and post on here so we can have a look and see if we can offer a road?
 
There is a Samuel Morris reg. Walsall Jun qtr 1882, son of a George Morris and a Clara Blake (?). He had a sister, Emily b1891.

They are very elusive, they are on the 1891 census in Walsall listed as Monis (findmypast) but that's all I can see, no other census, no marriage for George and Clara.
 
Samuel is possibly a boarder in Walsall in 1901.

Emily is possibly in Kidderminster in 1901, listed as a Tramp and coincidentally she may be in Essex in 1911, an inmate of Dr Barnardo's.

mark i spotted that one as a boarder and wondered about it...we certainly need all hands to the pump on this one

Also reg a sister Clara in 1889 mmn Blake. That fits the names of sisters on effects register.

The service records (attestation 1902) for the possible Samuel Morris appear to be on findmypast, can't see them on Ancestry.

He also had a brother who also seems to have been reg. as Samuel but is listed as Solomon in 1891 and he is mentioned in the Walsall Advertiser - robbery.

Can't see the actual birthplace for George and Clara, on familysearch it is listed only as Staffordshire.
 
That's intriguing.
1920 eroll lists Henry and Elizabeth BLAKE at 28 Kirby Road.
Post 12 suggests Clara's maiden name was Blake.
I tried 1920 as that was the date on one of the medal cards.
 
Henry and Elizabeth were still there in 1925 but Clara doesn't appear.
Wonder where she is on the 1921.

On the 1921 census there appears to be a Clara Morris listed at 29 Ashted Row with a George Blank. Not sure if Blank is his name or if it's there because there's no name listed.
 
Clara and Henry appear to be the children of a John and Hannah Blake.

Not sure if it's just coincidence or something more but Hannah's maiden name was Morris.
 
The 1891 census the name is Morris for sure. The Militia papers Parents names are not what we need. I'm thinking George and Clara looking good for the parents of Samuel (and Emily). The 1921 census with a George and Clara in Ashted Row also promising (people moved around a lot more even from house to house in the same street then).
 
In 1921 Clara appears to be listed as a widow and I wonder if she listed George in error.

There are possible deaths and burials at Witton for George (1918) and Clara (1935) but Morris is too common to be certain.
