Yes my error 1884-2004

Pictures are

Coventry Road Small Heath c1920

Coventry Road Sheldon c1950s

Stratford Road Springfield/Sparkhill c1950s

The picture of Coventry Road Small Heath the laddders are up against Turners property on the corner of Regents Park Road, Midland Bank on the corner.

Great photos.
The Stratford Road location is shown in this photo dated c1908. Would Turner's shop be there at that time ? .... the shop would be behind the lamppost, where the boxes are placed on the shopfront.
I remember going in the shop as a lad. We used dried peas to shoot from our toy guns, and Turner's sold them from big containers. We had to promise the shopkeeper they were for our mom to soak before eating, and not for "wasting" on games. Lots of our battles were in the back garden .... and dad never did realise why he had pea plants growing amongst his rhubarb and carnations.

Springfield Stratford Road c1908.jpg

Grey Peas or Marrowfats imported from Australia and New Zealand sold with a blue tablet to soak them in over night!

Only H G Turner listed in 1908 directory is the Coventry Road one.
I can't find the Stratford Road shop listed until 1940 (not every year is online but checked 1921, 1932 and drew a blank)
