Afraid I do not know of a map that shows that exactly. Early ones I have just say turnpike road, holyhead road, wolverhampton road,, or do not go out that far

Had a look at newspaper reports and it's possible the use of the name Soho Street in Handsworth was no longer used after the 1870s. The earliest reference I could find was in 1844. Soho Hill references appear from 1820 and Soho Road references start in the 1870s.

Soho Street Handsworth
1844 reference in newspapers to Soho Street, Handsworth, is the first that I found begin Points of interest named in extracts and dates indicating a location on Soho Street, Handsworth are
1849 Coach and Horses
1854 The Pump Tavern
1863 Red Lion
1863 Frighted Horse
1864 Ivy House Inn
1864 Pump Tavern
1866 Salop Row, Soho Street Handsworth
1866 Frighted Horse
1866 The Barrel Tavern
1867 Rowington Terrace Soho Street Handsworth
1869 St Michaels School
1869 a reference to Soho Street near the chapel
1870 Carlton Terrace Soho Street Handsworth
1871 is the latest reference I could find for Soho Street Handsworth.

Soho Road Handsworth
Soho Road references start in 1871

Soho Hill Handsworth
References to Soho Hill go back further:
1820 - a reference about repairs to the road from Soho Hill Handsworth to Walsall turnpike (northern side of Hamstead Bridge)
1859 another reference to Soho Hill near the toll gate
1886 mention of the Drill Hall

I would agree that the change from Soho Street to Soho Road was around 1870. The directory of 1868 calls it Soho St and it is completely under the Handsworth suburb section. The 1872 directory calls it Soho Road, part is listed under the 'Handsworth suburb section, and part under the main Birmingham section.

As a point of interest, what defines the difference between a street, road or avenue? Sorry to be off topic.

Nowadays nothing. Not sure if there ever was. Even avenue, which you might expect to be a fairly wide road, was used in several places in Birmingham for what might also have been named a "Place, or "terrace"

Thank you for that. I lived on Radnor Road that interacted with Heathfield Ave which was short and straight, normal width. I think “not sure there ever was” is correct.
