Wanted: interviewees

Birmingham People's History Archive is looking for people who've lived and/or worked in Birmingham over the last 50 years or so, to be interviewed. The interviews will be done by university students (after training) in the spring. They'll be recorded and possibly filmed, with people's consent, and would usually take place at our archive in Birmingham & Midland Institute, 9 Margaret Street, B3 3BS. This is part of a National Archives Resilience Grant project; we're trying to preserve the recent heritage of the city and its peoples. We organised similar interviews in 2023, and everyone involved enjoyed taking part - some of the interviews can be seen on our website https://bpha.online/ If you'd like to take part, or have questions about the project, please email gill@bpha.online We are a totally volunteer-run archive with a great collection of materials about local, national and international working-class history. Thank you!

I would be happy to talk.

I came to work in Birmingham in February 1977 and spent yhe whole of my working life as a solicitor in the city.
Good afternoon Stephen, thanks for offering to help - that would be great. We have trained some students, and they've done some interviews, but they're quite tied up with end of term work/exams at present. We're hoping to train some new students in the next few weeks. So I'll contact you again then, about someone to interview you. Should I contact you via the History Forum, or could you send me your email address? In the meantime, you maybe interested in a talk we have arranged this Wednesday 22 May at 6-7 pm. The flyer is below - it's free, and all welcome, no need to book. Best wishes, Gill - BPHA volunteer
