Can anyone tell me if records of people in Dudley Rd Workhouse are available anywhere? I have been able to get my great grandfather's birth certificate and he is listed as being born there.
Amy married Thomas Betts and went on to have 16 children with him including my mother who always said her grandfather was 'Charlie Hill.' My grandmother, who was born before they were married, never took his name and on my mother's birth certificate has the maiden name 'Unfrith.' I guess someone...
I think that is the right Alfred Brierly because I think his address is quite close to where Charles and Mary lived and also he and Charles has similar jobs. Could be coincidence but I don't think so.
Which record did you find if you don't mind me asking. I've only been able to find his enlistment form so far but I don't see a next of kin. Sorry but I am fairly new to this.
No I haven't looked for them but I will. That Charles is the son on the one that I am looking for. He was the youngest of the 4 children that Charles Hill had with Mary Ann. Thanks
From what I understand his wife died in 1901 but he is not on the census with her and the children then - they had already moved to Sheffield where their younger children were born. He apparently married again.
