I attended Beeches Secondary Modern, from 1951 to 1954. Among the first intake when the school re opened after the Civil Defence moved on. I am now almost 82, and spent ten years in the Royal Navy from 1954. If you are a Beeches Old-Fellow you should be able to work out when I got demobbed! from the Navy! Mr Wyatt was the woodwork teacher I paid heed to and earned my crust as a woodworker from 1964-1965. I joined Birmingham Police in 1965, retiring in 1990. That was when Policemen were allowed to be real Policemen. I live alone now, as my wife is in full care with Parkinson's and Dementia. No she wasn't a Beeches pupil (Except for her early schooldays at the infants.)
I will hopefully post about which teachers I had etc, but a lot of them were still at the school in the 1960's.
I was at Beeches School right from the infants, juniors until 1950, when I had a year at Birchfield Road, before moving back to the 'Seniors', as I said in 1951. Overall my time there was the happiest period of my life; it really was like being part of a happy family; due I think to the fact that we were a small group, being the first intake of the re opened Seniors school. I will never forget those days! I am still happy, save for my Lady wife being in such a dire position. I am due for vaccination, so maybe they will allow me to see her when that's been done. Always ready to talk about the old days, so I can keep happy!

'Tomorrow is promised to no one.' Not sure where this comes from, but Clint Eastwood used it, playing Luther Whitney in 'Absolute Power'. Yes, I can watch Clint, but prefer Deborah Kerr!
