How lovely! Yes as you can see from the photos i posted we had a fancy dress competition for the children too. I can't remember which one won, but they were all winners in my book, i thought they all looked swell.
I'm writing a short childhood memoir (will post a link for a free Kindle download whne it's ready) and I came across these photos of our street party for the Silver Jubilee. I wondered if anyone else had any from other parts of Brum?
In the final photo everyone was waving to a grumpy driver who...
Thank you Lyn!! When book is finished I will make available free downloads from Amazon for anyone that wants one on this Forum. I've got a lot more work to do on it yet, but it's shaping up nicely and I hope to have finished it before the year is out all being well !
Is the photo on the right copyrighted? I am writing a memoir about my 60s childhood in Birmingham and would like to illustrate it - I remember the rag & bone man coming down Wasdale Road in Northfield, so wondered if I could include that photo - or a link to it (I hope to publish it as an ebook...
Thank you Janice!! That confirms the spelling and the address, yes it has very much changed now, used to be a draughty grocers back in the day that sold all kinds of things including fresh fish and whatnots!

Awww wow !!! Thank you SO much (quite emotional for me to see that!). Very different to how it was back in the day.....I wonder if the little shop is still there just to the left. Gosh, I must pass this on to my Uncle who was born and bred in that house!!
Thank you so much, it's wider than I remember it, thought I think I'm right in saying the houses in Goodway Road were better class than the ones my Nan lived in in Birdbrook Road (she lived at 103).
Brilliant thank you!! ....yes No 33, that rings a bell, and I remember Goodway Road well - quite a long walk for a small child!! Thank you so much, very grateful.
Does anyone know what number bus would need to have been caught from Birmingham City Centre to get to Birdbrook Road in Kingstanding in the early 1960s? (I know strange question, but would like to include this detail in a book/memoir I'm writing).
