What`s a heatwave? I live in the n/e not far from the coast & up till these past few days it`s been very chilly with the wind coming off the north sea. I love the hot weather & just wish i could i could still travel to lovely hot Greece.:cool:
Loved the rowing boats half a crown for an hour. Took a girl out and pulled in to the island in the middle & left her there (just for a while) She was not amused! They also had a motor boat which cost 4 pence for a circuit of the lake if memory serves me.
Depends on your neighbours Jim. A big hairy overweight naturist then a 6 foot fence is essential. As the saying goes... You can choose your friends but you can`t choose your neighbours.
I had a rare visitor in the garden yesterday.... a Bullfinch. Such a handsome bird so i hope he comes back. I`ve never seen one before, maybe they`re frequent further south?
I`ve been having an unwelcome visitor for several days now.... a rat. It`s not afraid to show itself during the day, i watched it climb up a dwarf cherry tree & leap across onto the bird table for a good munch. I`ve since moved the cherry tree but it`s still hunting around under the bird...
Starlings have become nuisance again, arriving in swarms & devouring the seeds & sultanas in seconds from the bird table. They`re even managing to cling onto the feeders ( so many they broke one of the feeders) I even rigged up a tin with a couple of marbles in & string attached which i can jerk...
I had a small leak in my summerhouse (less than a year old ) Phoned a local handyman offered him £200 to refelt it ( I had the materials ) he said he wasn`t interested. Is he just too lazy or got too much money? I would do it myself but at 83 i`m not allowed up the ladder after what happened...
