It's mad how much things have changed, isn't it? The way they used to run things then seems so different to now. My old man went to a school not far from there around the same time, says it was all strict discipline and the three Rs.

I was having a look into this recently, and it's mad how much that whole area has changed. It’s not just the old Casino building that’s long gone, but the whole vibe of that part of town is completely different now with all the new developments.

One friend went there in the late 60s, just before it closed. He's always banging on about it - said the headmaster at the time, Mr Millington, kept peacocks roaming about the grounds, which sounds a bit mad looking back.

Anyone still got one sitting around with coins locked inside? Or found a good key lately that actually works without messing it up? How common are they these days?

My dad told me about that place back when I was a kid, said it was a proper busy old-school bookies on the corner there in Balsall Heath. Used to be full of lads putting on slips and the buzz inside.
