If my childhood memory serves me right (1960's) there was also an Overton bookies on the Tyburn Rd junction with Inland road Erdington. I used to walk past it going to my grandparents at Colston Rd off Round Rd / Inland Rd.
I use peppermint spray around the webcam in my workshop to stop spiders building webs in front of the lens and making my phone bong every 5 minutes. Works a treat.

I attended a few of these Christmas parties in the mid sixties Pete. One year I received a huge chemistry set including a proper metal microscope. Good times.
